Around the world in 80 days

The story is set in 1872 and begins at the Reform Club in London. After reading a newspaper article stating that a new railway in India has theoretically made it possible to travel the world in 80 days, the meticulously punctual Phileas Fogg bets his fellow club members £20,000 that he can accomplish the feat. Leaving that very night, Fogg and his loyal French valet, Passepartout, embark on a globe-trotting expedition using trains, steamships, and various other modes of transport. Along their journey, they face unexpected natural disasters, cultural obstacles, and a persistent Scotland Yard detective named Inspector Fix, who mistakenly suspects Fogg of robbing the Bank of England
